*Tiny Turtles is a group lesson program offered to our most beginner swimmers in shallow water at our outdoor locations ONLY. FINS coaches will work with swimmers in a small group setting to begin to build swimmers’ comfort levels in and around the water, help develop and strengthen general water safety skills and introduce foundational skills for freestyle and forward swimming through song, game, and play-based instruction.
*Tiny Turtles is a great group for swimmers who are just starting their swimming journey!
*In order to participate, swimmers must be toilet-trained and willing to enter into the shallow area of the pool without Mom, Dad, or a grown-up present. Excellent coach-to-swimmer ratio!
Note: Parents are able to view the pool and session from a designated seating area or from outside of the facility, but are not allowed to be in immediate proximity to the practice. Those more advanced beginner swimmers who feel comfortable swimming in some deeper water, submerging, back floating, and have already developed foundational skills for freestyle and forward movement through the water will be able to transition into more advanced groupings after being evaluated during practice.
The Tiny Turtles swim program is designed specifically for very beginner swimmers, focusing on creating a safe and enjoyable environment in shallow water. This program aims to help children build their confidence in the water while learning essential water safety skills and foundational swimming techniques.
Through engaging methods such as songs and games, instructors work closely with small groups to ensure that each child receives personalized attention. The program not only teaches swimming skills but also fosters a love for water activities, making it an ideal starting point for young swimmers.
To enroll in the Tiny Turtles swim program, children must meet specific criteria to ensure a safe and effective learning experience. Participants need to be toilet-trained and comfortable entering the pool area independently, which helps them acclimate to the aquatic environment without parental assistance.
This focus on independence is crucial for the program's success, as it encourages children to explore the water at their own pace. Additionally, those who have already developed some foundational skills may have the opportunity to transition into more advanced groupings after an evaluation during practice sessions.
The Tiny Turtles swim program offers numerous benefits that extend beyond just learning to swim. Children develop a sense of confidence and safety in the water, which is vital for their overall aquatic experience. The program also emphasizes social interaction, allowing children to make friends while learning essential life skills.
Moreover, the play-based instruction helps to maintain engagement and enjoyment, making the learning process fun. Parents can expect their children to not only gain swimming skills but also improve their coordination and physical fitness through regular participation in the program.
Effective communication with parents is a cornerstone of the Tiny Turtles swim program. Instructors provide regular updates on each child's progress, ensuring that parents are informed about their development and any areas needing attention. This transparency fosters a collaborative environment where parents can support their child's learning journey.
Additionally, the program encourages parents to ask questions and share any concerns they may have. This open line of communication helps create a supportive community, allowing parents to feel more connected and engaged with the swimming experience of their children.
