*A group lessons program offered to beginner swimmers in shallow water at outdoor pool locations and deeper water at indoor locations. FINS coaches will work with swimmers in a group setting to further swimmers’ comfort levels in swimming unassisted, and learn the basic introductory components to a successful freestyle and backstroke including kicking, body position, and roll over breathing.
*Little FINS is a great group for swimmers who have just begun to feel comfortable submerging underwater and move across the pool with some forward motion and horizontal body position. Swimmers will play games with their coaches and teammates and receive organized technical instruction.
*In order to participate, swimmers must be comfortable submerging and blowing bubbles, floating unassisted on their back and front, jumping in and swimming in deeper water (4.5+ ft.), understand foundational kicking skills and move forward on a kickboard for 15 yd/m without touching the bottom and be able to attempt to move across the pool with forward motion and horizontal body position independently for 5-10 yd/m.
Note: Parents are able to view the pool and session from a designated seating area or from outside of the facility, but are not allowed to be in immediate proximity to the practice. Those more advanced beginner swimmers who feel comfortable swimming in deeper water, submerging, back floating, and have already developed foundational skills for freestyle and forward movement through the water will be able to transition into more advanced groupings after being evaluated during practice.
